5 Tips to Avoid Gaining 7 Kilos at Christmas
First of all I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy
christmas (if you happen to be reading this at christmas time that is). Now christmas should be a time for enjoying yourself with
your friends and family and course that will involve some eating and
drinking of the traditional christmas fair. I for one will be do exactly
that and I see it is as a reward for be disciplined throughout the
year.
But did you know that the average person puts on
around 7 kilos (1 stone) at Christmas? So to avoid that being you and
looking like father Christmas yourself in January then follow these 5
tips...
1. Don't stop exercising. Most people
actually have more free time, what with time off from work or the
workload slowing, so there is no reason to pack in your training. Get to
the gym early and get your workouts done or if you're brave then head
out for a quick run to keep your metabolism fast and burn off some of
the excess.
2. Get your mind right. Don't go
into Christmas with the attitude that you're going to eat everything in
sight, if you do I can guarantee that you will regret it in January,
trust me I see so many people in this exact situation year after year.
Also eat what the things that you want but don't eat things just because
they are ion front of you, you don't have to eat a whole tin of quality
street just because it is there.
3. Don't Gorge. This
follows on from my last point but it needs to be stressed. Don't eat
until bursting point, eat until you are full by all means but don't cram
your belly with food until you're more stuffed than the turkey. And if
you are eating at a friends or family members house don't worry they
won't be offended if you don't clear the plate.
4.
Out of sight out of mind. Most of us have lots of chocolates around
the house during this time of year but we would eat considerably less if
we kept them closed away in the cupboard and only brought them out when
guests were coming over. It's incredibly hard to resist those
chocolates when they are on the coffee table in front of you whilst your
bordem levels are reaching new highs as you watch old Christmas re-runs
on TV.
5. Frankie says 'Relax'. Christmas can
be an incredibly stressful time of year if we let it and we all know
what happens when we get stressed, we comfort eat. Comfort eating at Christmas time is like comfort eating on steroids with all the bad food
and alcohol laying around, so try to relax. Don't worry about trying to
make everything perfect because it never will be, just remember what
it's really all about.. enjoying time with friends and family, keep that
in mind and you won't go far wrong.
So here's wishing
you all a merry Christmas and a great new year!
