Unlock green tea's health benefits
Over the last few years it seems
everyone in the health industry has been shouting about the benefits
of green tea, but what exactly are they? How should you consume it?
And even how much is enough to see the health benefits? These are
just some of the questions that it's not easy to find the answers to,
so in this article I'm going to clear up these grey areas and give
you all the information you'll need to start benefiting from this
great tea....
Although it has been used in China for
hundreds of years for it's health benefits it's only over the last
few decades that us in the west have caught on and learned that green
tea can reduce the risk of oesophageal
cancer, compounds in the tea can block the growth of other cancers,
green tea can improve your ratio of good (HDL) to bad (LDL)
cholesterol levels, help fight off infection, improve rheumatoid
arthritis, speed up your metabolism increasing weight loss, improve
immune function and help prevent cardiovascular disease.
To
serve green tea just boil the kettle and away you go, the flavour
doesn't work well with sugar and milk and besides why drink something
healthy and then reduce it's benefits by adding in foods which
produce negative effects in the body. Also it's important to use
organic tea as tea is one of the most heavily sprayed crops and
drinking non-organic will again reduce the health benefits.
How
much should you drink? From the studies that have been carried out
over the years benefits have been reported from drinking 4 to 10 cups
per day and although this area is still unclear I would aim for 5
cups a day just to be safe but if you are really dedicated you could
go for 10 cups and if all of this seems impossible to you there are
many green tea capsules available on the market that can give you all
the heath benefits in an easy to swallow capsule.
So
there you have, what are you still sitting there for... go and put
the kettle on!
