The Metabolic Typing Diet is pretty much the only diet that tries to see you as an individual and not lump you into a rigid regime that may not work for you.
The most famous book that I can think of and the only one written by the founder of the modern version of the diet is ‘The Metabolic Typing Diet’ by William Wolcott.
He argues that no two people are the same or are the effects that any given food has on them and if you think it then it seems to make sense.
Improve digestion, freedom from disease, weight loss and better all round performance are just a few of the things that Metabolic Typing claims it will give you.
There are 3 types: The protein type, the Carbohydrate type and the Mixed type.
The Protein type should aim for a diet make up of 40% protein, 30% Carbs and 30% fat. The Carbohydrate type should aim for a make up of 60% carbohydrate, 25% protein and 15% fat. The Mixed type should aim for a diet of 50% carbohydrate, 30% protein and 20% fat although these types are advised to experiment a little to find the best ratios for them.
Personally I really like this diet as it sees everyone as an individual and that’s exactly what we are. This diet looks into our past and finds what evolution has engineered us to eat and it seems to come out right most of the time. For example people of east asian origin you would expect to mainly be carbohydrate types and that’s exactly what happens when they take the test. Also northern europeans you would expect to be mainly protein types and again this what happens most who take the test come out like that.
